One new school was built in the village of Mukpara, which is the centre for the Angebi Archdeaconry, and is
50 miles to the north of Yei. The new primary school was project
managed by CMS Ireland in partnership with the Diocese of Yei,
using funds from the Basic Services Fund.
"This is a wonderful
facility for Mukpara", said Bishop Hilary, "which replaces a very
poor school where many of the classes used to meet under trees.
The contractor, Expert Services Ltd, can be congratulated on a
magnificent job and for completing the school two months ahead of
schedule."
The Basic Services Fund
provided funding for 2 new Primary Schools, one in Panyana and the
other in Mukpara. The funding is sufficient to build an eight
classroom school together with administrative offices, staff room
and store for school materials. Also, at each school, the Basic
Services Fund paid for the construction of eight pit latrines, a
borehole and school desks and furniture for staff and pupils.
In addition, several
teachers have attended a three month training course at Yei
Teacher Training College and there will also be training for the
PTA in school management.
